I love fall. It’s by far my most favorite season of the year. Everything from the changing of the leaves, the cozy sweaters and tall boots to anything pumpkin flavored. And even though it’s still in the 80′s here I feel the slightest kiss of autumn on my skin in the morning and I’m kind of giddy about it.
I’m slowly starting to transition our home from summer to fall and when I say slowly, I mean very slow. D isn’t as thrilled with the changing of the seasons as I am but surely he will come around once I get the house all cozy once again.
This little project was the first on a very long list. On a whim a few weeks ago I purchases some Styrofoam balls with a couple of ideas floating around in my mind. I also happened to pick up some yarn that I loved because the colors neutral with little flecks of autumn colors and decided it was the perfect project to kick off the beginning of fall!
This project was super easy. All you need are various sizes of Styrofoam balls, yarn (I use synthetic instead of wool), and a clear glue.
Start with one of the balls and dollop a drop of clear clue and secure the end of the yarn.
Then, just wrap and wrap and wrap around the ball until all the white is covered up and secure it with another dollop of glue and let dry. It basically will look like a ball of yarn.
Use them however suits your fancy. I placed them a white bowl on our entryway table and I love it.

I have been looking for something to put in a basket, and this is so easy and inexpensive. Thanks for sharing! ~Erin
These are so cute! I think they would go nicely with some pinecones too!
Pretty! I love the texture of the yarn in the smooth bowl. I wish I could do this but with 5 cats in my house I have to hide anything yarn related, lol!
LOL. I have one cat but so far he hasn’t even noticed them so maybe yours will ignore them too!
These are so cute. I love them. I was thinking that I could do this also, and then I read the comment before mine and realized my cat would have these all over the house. She is constantly getting into my yarn in my office. I have a link party on Wednesdays, and I would love it if you would link this and any other posts. It is called Wednesdays Adorned From Above Link Party. It runs from Wednesday to Sundays.
