Blog Angels

If you’ve checked out the blog Craftbotic then you know all about Blog Angels. If not, you can read more about it here but the main idea is that you are giving a blog to be a Blog Angel too and anonymously you give them lots of love :) Really, it’s just another way to make a new friend.

Summer 2012

Today marks the halfway point. The day we share a little bit about our experience thus far. Rosie, the gal behind Craftbotic gave us some good questions to think about and I thought I’d share them and answer them Q and A style.

1. How have you found the experience of helping out a fellow blogger?
I have always loved giving other blogs love. I think showing support and encouragement within the blogging community is very important and not too mention, it’s always fun to meet new friends in all avenues in life.

2. Do you feel like you are making a difference?

To be completely honest, I’m not sure. I do my best to support the blogger I was paired up with but you never know if it is enough. Not too mention, sometimes life gets a little hectic and you can’t always sit back and catch up on all the blogs you love. I try to give said blogger some love as often as possible in someway but I know I haven’t been able to do it as much as I’d like to.

3. How easy/difficult, fun/horrendous is it in reality?

I think this has been a fun experience thus far and I can’t imagine it changing :) Why wouldn’t you want to share the love and get to know someone else through the words, pictures, or projects on their blog? It’s as fun for me as it is hopefully for them to read my comments.

4. What have you learned from taking part in Blog Angels so far?

Hmm, good question. I’ve learned that I have a hard time with commitments. Lol during the summer. We are leaving tomorrow for four days and then again next week for two, then the that weekend for three and again the following week for Mexico for a week so, as you can see, I’ve been a little short on time. I’d say my biggest lesson is to just do the best you can and hope that is good enough.

If you want to take part in the next blog Angel check on Craftbotic for more details!

picture frame chalkboard – tutorial

DIY (do it yourself) blog posts on creating a homemade chalkboard isn’t exactly new but for me, I’m excited to be able to share with all of you something I’ve made.

We have this frame that is  a weird size. It’s really just too big for most pictures but it’s a very cute frame and I want to use it someplace in our house. We’ve also been wanting to get a chalkboard of some sorts in our kitchen. Lightbulb moment! Why don’t I make the frame a chalkboard for the kitchen? Bingo! And that is exactly what I did.

Here is what you can do to make your own picture frame chalkboard for your home:

1) Find a frame you’d like to turn into a chalkboard:

2) Pick out the chalkboard paint you want to use. I decided it would be easier to use spray chalk paint instead of other variations such as paint on but either will work just fine:

3) Take out the glass or whatever clear piece used. In my case it is plastic. Lay it on something you don’t mind ever using again or dedicate it as your ‘painting’ sheet. I used some paper I had around the house but to be a little more Eco-friendly, they have thingsjust for this purpose.

4)  Shake the can for about one minute to make sure the paint is good and mixed together. Hold the can about 12″ away from what you are spraying and begin by going back and forth horizontally until the who surface is covered in a thin layer. Allow to dry for about 15 minutes and repeat once more.

5) Leave over night someplace to dry. After about 24 hours, you can put the frame back together.

6) Once the frame is put back together, take a piece of white chalk and go over the whole surface of the chalkboard to prime the surface. This prevents permenant marks from forming on your chalkboard.

 7) Once that is complete, you can erase it and voila! You now have yourself your very own picture frame chalkboard!

we’re moving

Dear Readers,

Bullfrogs and Bulldogs is moving to a new site. When exactly is TBD but it is coming soon as in the next couple of days I believe! Stay tuned for a brand new look that I am so excited to share!

Best,

Amanda

dear readers…

We need your help. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are getting chickens and originally we were going to have a stand still chicken coop but for agricultural purposes we’ve decided on a mobile coop. Do any of you happen to know of any good mobile chicken coop layouts, designs, or plans online? We’d greatly appreciate you advice!

Also, would it be wise to just get full-grown chickens to start and next spring get chicks or if possible, can we get chick late summer/early fall? HELP!

Much appreciated,

Amanda

humbled

Wow…I am truly humbled by all of you today and want to thank WordPress.com for posting me on their ‘Freshly Pressed.’ I am truly in love with writing, photography, food and sharing the experiences of my life in hopes that I may be able to, first, make you giggle a little, and second, relate to all of you a little better.

I am planning on responding to each of you that commented in the next few days. Until then, I thank all of you that have commented on my blog, all of you that have viewed my blog, and all of you for supporting my love of being open and honest!

I truly appreciate it.

All the very best,

Amanda
