Front Porch Makeover

Happy Monday! I’m writing this from LAS VEGAS! D and I came down for his little sister’s high school graduation and some other fun stuff! I love coming down here and staying at his parents home. There is a whole other side to Las Vegas then just the strip :)

This past week while back in Oregon I thought I’d join the front porch makeover bandwagon and I made a few updates to ours.

Before

As you can see from the before picture, it was a little boring and desperately needed a little life of color.

Here is the after!

After

With just a few minor changes the front porch looks like so much more welcoming. Plus, with the espresso brown door you wont be able to see the kitty prints all over from him scratching at it to get in!

Here are the planters before:

I used two ceramic pots we already had around the house and painted them. I am loving the chevron patter but in small doses and thought this would be a fun way to display it. I started off painting the whole thing while and then as shown above, used tape to create the pattern and then painted a baby blue. When I removed the tape some of the white tape came off and at first I was going to touch it up with more white but the specks started to grown on me so I left it.

For our new house number sign I found an old cabinet door at the Restore and painted it all white. I printed off our house numbers and stenciled them on with the same grey that we used in the tasting room as seen here. I decided last minute that it needed a little more so I painted the trim the same grey and I love it! Finally, I just tied some twine  and hung it form an old nail that was already in place.

For the front door, I knew I wanted a dark color to hide the dirt and grim that accumulates quickly. I picked an espresso brown with a bit of a sheen and two coats later viola!

Now all I need is a fun wreath of some sorts. The possibilities are endless with the changing seasons!

I hope you love our new updates! I love coming home and seeing the little changes.

Don’t forget to follow us out of Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest too!

    Amanda – Wow!

I love your ingenuity (cabinet door into house #s) and freedom of creativity (letting the spots in the white chevron stripe be part of the design).

Instead of hanging wreathes on the door – maybe consider hanging them where your sunshine sculpture is now. And when the light is on the seasonal wreath or sculpture will be highlighted at night too.

You did such a beautiful job with the paint… it would be hard for me to cover it up. (I love to paint and then just stare at my work)

    Cheers! ;-)

Ah, what a sweet thing to say :) Thank you so much! I love the idea about changing out the sunshine! I’m not sure I’d want it there in the fall and winter anyway :)

Amanda, I love this porch makeover! Will you come down to Texas and do mine?! Seriously, I’ll provide the room and board (complete with sweet tea refills)!!!!!!!!!! We live so far off the county road, though, I don’t really need house numbers. But, I might use your idea for a “welcome” sign. Great blog you have here, so glad I found you via the link-up.

    Blessings,
